December 7th, 1941, America is at war. Many will go to fight, to heal and to report. The Whites and Bowens will be there. Susan Bowen, nurse and great niece to Sarah Bowen, will answer the call of her country. She will become a Task Nurse and care for the wounded on battlefields far away from Waynesboro, Georgia. In another part of the world, she finds someone to care for, maybe to love. Is it chance or fate?
Larry White, young, handsome and working his dream job as a reporter in Honolulu. Amid the death and destruction at Pearl Harbor he is saved by a beautiful woman. He's unsure if she was truly there or if it was just a dream. Larry is determined to make a difference in the war by reporting it, just like his great uncle, Samuel White.
Deelyn Johns, pilot, mechanic and dreamer. The sky is her playground. When the war begins, Deelyn searches for a place, somewhere she can be of the greatest help. After all, she can fly a plane! They know the danger and face it; perhaps souls lost will find one another.

Finally the wait is over and it was worth it! Janet tells another captivating story. She sparked my attention in chapter one, and kept it throughout the book. Alas, I must wait for the next novel.—Michael Cacciatore, MD OB/GYN Excellent read. Janet takes complex procedures and breaks them down for everyone's consumption. Highly recommended for both the professional and the novice.—Roy Edwards, Colonel, United States Army, (Ret.) I found this book very informative and entertaining. It provides an insightful look at a facet of our military history that has too often been overlooked. The author has a great future ahead that is well deserved.—Donald L. Finch, Captain, United States Navy, (Ret.) As a lover of historical and medical fiction, I found it a special treat to find the combination done with such skill. The characters in Shawgo's first novel helped me to remember the true reason why I chose a vocation of healing. These characters also made me proud to be a woman. This second novel does not disappoint and more than reinforces these sentiments. I challenge you to try to put it down! —Elizabeth Hutcheson, MD, FACOG I find Janet's writing style very compelling, leaving the reader to wonder what will be found just around the corner. This is a tribute to all females who sacrifice their lives in the service to others.—Christine Leblond, Colonel, United States Army, (Ret.) Wait for Me, catches your attention from the very beginning. Janet has shown the courage of women during a time of war. They answered the call to serve their country and went where the need was greatest.—Pamela L. Little, Captain, United States Air Force, NC
