If you are like authors Nichole and Elisabeth, your favorite part of quilting is fussy cutting – and it usually involves figuring out how to enhance an interesting quilt block by framing a favorite element in your most-loved fabric! Let fussy cutting become more than just showing a single design. By following along with how Nichole and Elisabeth create drastically different samplers from each of their 48 unique patchwork blocks, see how those same 9'' blocks can easily be adapted to your own personal taste. Compare their blocks (and their samplers!) side by side and get inspired to use the fabrics you love to create your own sampler blocks. Learn how to navigate those pesky stripes, how to work with either a limited palette or an eclectic scrappy one, and how to incorporate improvisational piecing to fussy cut even the smallest parts of your favorite designs. Suddenly, you'll see the endless possibilities in your fabric stash and won't be able to resist creating a fussy-cut sampler all your own.

Nichole Ramirez and Elisabeth Woo met at the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild and became fast friends because of their love for fussy cutting. Elisabeth started fabric collecting years before she started quilting. Her quilts have hung in the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and local county fairs.
Nichole began her quilting journey in 2003, when she taught herself how to make a baby quilt from tutorials online. She is a charter member of the LAMQG and her quilt designs have been published in International Quilt Festival Quilt Scene, Quilty, Today's Quilter, Modern Patchwork, Make It! Patchwork and Modern Patchwork Gifts. She has had quilts exhibited in QuiltCon, the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, International Quilt Market, International Quilt Festival, Road to California and AQS Quilt Week.
Elisabeth and Nichole both left their corporate jobs to work in the quilting industry and love being surrounded by lots of fabric and daily inspiration. In addition to quilting, they enjoy spending time with their families made up of people and pets and the supportive, creative community in the Los Angeles area.
