We live in a world that is constantly telling us to work harder, dig deeper, and strive closer to an ideal and purposeful existence. We're told that if we don't succeed in making something of ourselves, we'll have nothing to show for our lives. For those who succumb to this mindset, life can seem like nothing more than one immense competition - one where we usually come up short. When this is how we view our lives, can we ever be truly content with ourselves? Can God still love and use us, flaws and all? In a world which equates "ordinary" with "not good enough," Heath Trampe uses powerful examples from the Bible to prove that even ordinary people can accomplish amazing things. As you read about the lives of such Biblical characters as Jonah, Zacchaeus, and Esther, remember that they were simply ordinary sinners in the hands of an extraordinary God. They each experienced their share of hardships and struggles, but when God took hold of their lives, remarkable things began to happen. As you journey through these 12 stories of inspiration and hope, you'll discover that "ordinary" is a pretty amazing thing to be. Included are Bible study questions for each chapter, with in-depth answers and commentary. This book is ideal for both individual and group study.

From the Author:
This book is different from the average read at your local Christian bookstore.  Extraordinary New for Ordinary People (ENFOP) doesn't provide the latest and greatest list or program for a flatter stomach or a thicker wallet.  Instead, true happiness and contentment are explored by means of a journey through the Bible.  Beginning with Jonah, the reluctant prophet, and ending with Joseph, the stepfather of Jesus, I examine the true meaning of ordinary and how this impacts our lives as God's children.  I even include a section about my own reluctant journey to the cross so that you might see that I not only write about these things - I've lived them.

It's easy to be impressed by people like King Solomon or the prophet Elisha.  They had great power and influence, which was manifested through amazing events and miracles that we can barely comprehend.  That being said, these were just men whom God used to fulfill His ultimate plan of sending Jesus Christ to die for the sin of the world (John 3:16).  Queen Esther and faithful Ruth seem like anything but ordinary women.  However, they, too, made plenty of mistakes and would have amounted to nothing outside of the grace of God.

One of the most unique features of ENFOP is the detailed study section at the end of each chapter.  Designed to lead you deeper into Scripture, these questions cover everything from the life of the Biblical character being studied to how this affects our lives even today.  Instead of giving you the standard "answers will vary" in the corresponding answers section, I provide answers that read like the rest of the book and give you everything you need to confidently navigate not only my book, but also the sections being covered from Scripture.

Read ENFOP as a personal devotion or suggest it for your study group.  This book has been taught in churches throughout the United States, and I have yet to hear a negative review.  Try it for yourself and see what I mean!
