From the Author

This novel features characters from the author's fictional Locke family. Myles Locke, a Kansas Flint Hills lawyer, is the patriarch of a family that includes five children, Franklin, Cameron, Ian, Thaddeus, and Hannah. Protagonists of these novels will be one or more of the siblings or their father, but the books are stand-alone novels and need not be read in any specific order. Of course, the author hopes the reader will enjoy this book and be inspired to pick up another novel about this interesting and unique frontier family.

Western readers who have read Louis L'Amour's books might call to mind the writing legend's many Sackett family novels, which could easily be read independently without locating the first novel. Yet, many readers found themselves forming a bond of sorts with the Sacketts and wanted to learn more about these folks.

So, remember, whichever Locke book you have chosen, the story is the thing. Enjoy it, and do not worry about whether you should have read another of the novels first.

The Lockes (in order of publication):
