About the Author

At age 13, I was cast as the Artful Dodger in a professional production of Oliver. A hundred boys tried out for the role, and I was shocked I was chosen. The director must have seen something in me that I didn't because I quickly adopted the persona of a pickpocket. It was strangely easy to think and act like a thief.

Since then, I have been intrigued by those who live on the wrong side of the law. I've never gone down that path, but I have a certain affinity with those who do, especially con artists, safecrackers, pool hustlers, and of course, pickpockets.

There is no doubt the Tinman Series was bred from my criminal inclinations. It allows me the opportunity to delve deep into the skills, idiosyncrasies, and mindsets of people who choose to live the bent life. It is my chance to explore and experience crime without going to prison. What a wonderful job writing is.
