Adhesive arachnoiditis (AA) is an inflammatory, autoimmune catastrophic disease in which cauda equina nerve roots become fused to the arachnoid membrane. Unless treated, it manifests with paralysis and impairment of legs, feet, bladder, intestine, and sex organs. It produces severe intractable pain, a bed-bound state, and premature death. This handbook details the initial steps to establish a three-component medical protocol of (1) suppression of inflammation and autoimmunity, (2) regeneration of damaged tissue, and (3) control of pain.
