Elizabeth Jorgensen is a writer and teacher. She received her undergraduate degree from Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) and her master's from Carroll University (Waukesha, Wisconsin). She has been published in English Journal, Edutopia, Teachers & Writers Magazine, Azalea: Journal of Korean Literature and Culture (Harvard University), Brevity, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Writers Who Care, Ohio Journal of English Language Arts, Wisconsin English Journal, Skinny Poetry Journal, and Gyroscope Review, among others.She has presented for the National Council of Teachers of English, Wisconsin State Reading Association, Wisconsin Writers Association, East Asian Studies Center at Indiana University, The Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts, and The Illinois Reading Council, among others.She is passionate about sijo, a Korean form of poetry. Elizabeth's sijo lessons have been uploaded on the Sejong Cultural Society as an exemplar of teaching poetry and she was a runner up in the 2020 Wisconsin Sijo Contest.Her memoir was released in 2019. In 2017, Jorgensen was named the Graduate of the Last Decade from Carroll University. She was the 2008-2009 Lucille S. Pooley Award winner (for Successful Techniques in Teaching Composition in the Schools of Wisconsin). In 2011, she was named the Jarvis E. Bush winner from the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English. That year, Jorgensen was also named a PBS Innovative Educator. In 2021, she was named one of 20 of America's Most Inspiring Educators (The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Awards).
