Conducting a teardown and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) upon a product currently on sale allows the analysis of the materials used and the production methods of the product. This study outlines the LCA of a Briggs & Stratton Lawnmower; it assesses the individual components, their materials and designs, to see if they can be remanufactured with an alternative design to give a more sustainable solution through the LCA and End of Life (EoL). This paper also outlines the modification of three existing components to allow a reduction in weight of the material being used. This in turn reduces the energy invested in the production along with the transportation of components.
