Bibles, Bugles and Bloomers is a book of historical moments recounted by those 'who were there'. When Gary was given a WW1 soldier's Bible, by war veteran Timothy, he had no idea that it would become the first of an extensive collection and the beginning of the author's living history talk 'Down memory lane'. As Gary took his historical artefacts; Bibles, uniforms, dresses, toys, comics and, yes, bloomers into care homes, the residents began to share their own remarkable stories, all of which Gary faithfully recorded. Bibles, Bugles and Bloomers is the result, a unique collection of memories that provides an insight to historical events from those who witnessed them first hand, including a woman who 'met Hitler' at the Berlin Olympics, another who danced with Glen Miller, and a man who remembered scoring a goal for West Ham, plus many more. This is a book that will appeal to all ages, to be shared with grandchildren and elderly relatives alike. There is currently nothing that tells the story of the 20th century in quite the same way. This book invites us to remember all those individual 'moments' that make up history.

Gary John Baugh has been a public speaker for over ten years following a chance meeting with a WW1 soldier. With men's and women's groups, historical societies, care homes and schools numbering in the hundreds his shows have to date, reached over twenty-five thousand people. Always a collector of historical artefacts, his living history memorabilia has been featured in 'Collect it' and 'Life.info' magazines. Following on from this, Gary has now accumulated a collection of memories from 'those who were there', the very moment history was made. A musician for over fifty years, Gary plays the cornet and is often chosen to play the Bugle at Remembrance services. Gary lives in Essex with his wife, Jan and they have nine children.
