About the Author
Philippe Labro, écrivain, cinéaste, journaliste, a publié aux Éditions Gallimard Un Américain peu tranquille (1960), Des feux mal éteints (1967), Des bateaux dans la nuit (1982). En 1986, L'Étudiant étranger lui vaut le prix Interallié. En 1988, Un été dans l'Ouest obtient le prix Gutenberg des lecteurs. Après Le Petit Garçon, en 1990, Philippe Labro publie Quinze ans en 1992 puis, en 1994, Un début à Paris qui complète le cycle de ses cinq romans d'apprentissage. En 1996 paraît La traversée, un témoignage sur une épreuve majeure de santé, suivi en 1998 par Rendez-vous au Colorado. En 1999, Philippe Labro fait parler Manuella. En 2002 paraît Je connais gens de toutes sortes, recueil de portraits revus et corrigés en 2003 et un nouveau témoignage, Tomber sept fois, se relever huit, traitant de la dépression. En 2006, avec Franz et Clara, il offre un surprenant roman d'amour et tisse en 2009, dans Les Gens, trois destins en quête de bonheur, avant de rassembler en 2010 ses chroniques journalistiques dans 7 500 signes. En 2013, il propose dans Le Flûtiste invisible trois histoires dues au hasard qui fait basculer les vies, et livre dans " On a tiré sur le président " son enquête passionnante, témoignage vécu, sur l'assassinat de John Fitzgerald Kennedy à Dallas. En 2017 paraît Ma mère, cette inconnue, et en 2020 J'irais nager dans plus de rivières, dans lequel il raconte à travers portraits, souvenirs et citations le chemin d'un curieux de la vie. Son dernier roman, Deux gimlets sur la 5ᵉe Avenue, a paru en 2024.
