About the Author
Colette naît en 1873 dans l'Yonne. Venue à Paris, elle épouse, en 1893, l'écrivain boulevardier Willy qui l'incite à écrire la série des Claudine. Séparée de son premier mari en 1906, Colette débute une carrière sur les scènes de music-hall, et écrit sous son propre nom La Retraite sentimentale, L'Ingénue libertine, Les Vrilles de la vigne, La Vagabonde, L'Envers du music-hall. Remariée avec Henri de Jouvenel, Colette devient journaliste, tout en poursuivant son oeuvre, avec, entre autres, Chéri, Gigi, Le Blé en herbe, La Naissance du jour. En 1935, après son troisième mariage avec Maurice Goudeket, Colette s'achemine peu à peu vers cette figure de " grande dame des lettres " qui sera la sienne. Immobilisée par une arthrite de la hanche, elle continue à écrire dans son appartement du Palais-Royal : L'Étoile Vesper, Le Fanal bleu. En 1945, elle entre à l'Académie Goncourt. Elle s'éteint à Paris en 1954.
