Le livre d'Étienne Fouilloux concerne, au premier chef, l'histoire des Éditions dominicaines du Cerf, qui ont pris en charge la collection dčs son origine ; puis l'histoire de la pensée catholique contemporaine, dans la mesure oů les " Sources chrétiennes ", conçues dans le milieu jésuite de Fourvičre, ont été et demeurent une pičce maîtresse du " retour aux sources " bibliques, liturgiques et patristiques du christianisme, dont s'est nourri Vatican II. Les pčres Daniélou et Lubac : les noms de ses deux premiers directeurs symbolisent ŕ eux seuls un tel mouvement. La premičre édition de cet ouvrage, réalisée ŕ l'occasion du cinquantenaire des " Sources chrétiennes " en 1995, s'arrętait au début des années 1960 ; cette nouvelle édition poursuit cet historique jusqu'en 2006. -- Since 1942, the "Sources chrétiennes' series has been providing the public with the great texts of the Fathers of the Church - Greek, Latin or Oriental - in an accessible formula. Yet no one had really investigated the rich and informative history of that vast enterprise. Étienne Fouilloux's book focuses primarily on the history of the Dominican Editions du Cerf, who have been publishing the series since its beginnings. It also explores the history of contemporary Catholic thinking, in as much as "Sources chrétiennes', born in the Jesuit milieu of Fourvičre, was and remains an important element of the "return to the biblical, liturgical and Patristic sources of Christianity' that nourished Vatican II. Daniélou and de Lubac, the names of the first two directors, symbolize the movement in themselves. The first edition of this book, published on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of "Sources chrétiennes' in 1995, stopped at the beginning of the 1960s; this new edition carries on until 2006.
