About the Author
C'est en 1972 que Jeanine et Jean Guion ont écrit ensemble leurs premières histoires pour enfants. Après des ouvrages sur l’orthographe et la lecture, ils se consacrent maintenant entièrement à l'écriture de romans pour la jeunesse.
L'intérêt de leur travail en commun vient sans doute de leurs formations complémentaires : Jeanine Guion a été institutrice, puis orthophoniste ; Jean Guion, docteur ès Sciences de l'Éducation a d'abord été professeur de lettres, puis Inspecteur de l'Éducation nationale.
C'est en 1985 qu'ils ont imaginé le monde de Ratus et créé un affreux rat vert, devenu le héros de la célèbre méthode de lecture Ratus et ses amis.
C'est toujours en 1985 que Jeanine et Jean Guion conçoivent, dans le cadre d'une méthode, des "petits romans" que des enfants peuvent lire seuls, comme des grands.
Ces "petits romans" deviendront les premiers livres de la collection Ratus Poche qu'ils dirigent, parallèlement à leur activité d'auteurs au sein de cette collection pour les 6-12 ans.
Ratus Poche compte aujourd'hui près de 150 titres, parmi lesquels de nombreuses aventures de Ratus, mais aussi les histoires d'autres personnages qu'ils ont imaginés, comme Ralette, Super-Mamie et le Grand Baboul, à côté de textes d'auteurs reconnus.
