Cette fois, je sentis que je tenais un beau sujet, car chacun n’a-t-il pas, au moins une fois dans sa vie, souhaité tuer quelqu’un, à condition bien entendu d’être sûr de l’impunité. Le crime parfait ! Tout le monde s’y intéresse !

Patricia Highsmith est née au Texas en 1921. Son premier roman, L’Inconnu du Nord-Express, est devenu un classique de la littérature policière qui inspira Hitchcock. Suivirent nombre de chefs-d’œuvre qui firent des romans de Patricia Highsmith les œuvres littéraires les plus adaptées au grand écran. Elle a vécu longtemps en France et en Suisse, où elle s’est éteinte en 1995. L’ensemble de son œuvre est publié aux éditions Calmann-Lévy.
