Synopsis
Dans le décor sauvage et grandiose des Appalaches, Un été prodigue tisse trois histoires de femmes. Celle de Deanna, employée par l'office des forêts, dont la solitude va être bouleversée par l'arrivée d'un jeune chasseur. Celle de Lusa, une intellectuelle qui, devenue veuve, décide de rester dans la vallée et de gagner le coeur d'une famille hostile. Celle de Nannie, enfin, dont les opinions en matière de religion ou de pesticides suscitent des querelles de voisinage. Dans ce roman foisonnant et généreux, Barbara Kingsolver traite du thème qui lui est le plus cher - le respect de la nature - avec un charme et une grâce qui suscitent l'enthousiasme.

About the Author
Barbara Kingsolver est née aux Etats-Unis en 1955. Journaliste, poète et romancière, elle a écrit une dizaine de livres, tous publiés chez Rivages. Connue pour son engagement écologiste, elle tient une place à part dans la littérature américaine. En 2010, elle a obtenu le prestigieux Orange Prize pour Un autre monde.
