This novel is based on the Saffron Revolution of the Burmese Monks which took place in Burma (Myanmar), September 2007. Ashin Yevata was one of the monk leaders in the protest, just before the Tibetan unrest in 2008. Burma had been under military dictatorship for 60 years. These are his accounts during this time. In this novel, he mixes Buddhist philosophy, Burmese culture, western culture, Burmese politics, love and his daily experiences with foreign people.
