This artist's book by the internationally celebrated Swiss video artist Pipilotti Rist is literally a chocolate box themed to address the last, mysterious 15 minutes before the fall of man. Published by one of the most important publishers of international art and design books and edited by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, it is a deluxe and seductive object that will also serve as the official publication for Rist's exhibition at this year's Venice Biennale. The box includes a poster and images of saints, dreams and ideas of paradise. Rist burst onto the international art scene in the mid-1990s with mesmerizing video installations influenced by visual art, music, architecture, and social politics. Her witty, poetic, and experimental work fuses natural and urban worlds, and often features erotic or uncanny images of the human body, particularly her own. Inspired by artists like Nam June Paik and Yoko Ono, Rist's work expands into gallery spaces in a manner that encourage viewers to see and experience art in unconventional ways. Es handelt sich um eine pralinemässige Box (versilberter Karton) mit textilem Umschlag, die die Künstlerin als Kind gerne erhalten hätte als sie mit ihren Eltern nach Venedig fuhr. In ihr sind verschiedene lose Teile (Poster, Heiligen-, Traum und Paradiesbilder, Glacepapierchen) zu finden, die mit einem Bändchen rausgehieft werden können. Diese bilden die Brücke zum Paradies und sollen Trost spenden. - "Der Körper ist ein Planet. Er will das Paradies sein. Das Paradies besänftigt Fieber. Die Epidermis ist eine Landschaft, die Nägel ein Haus, die Mundhöhle eine Kirche und der Nacken ist das Tor zum Himmel. Die Besucherin der Installation und die Besitzerin des Schachtel soll ins Paradies jenseits des Sündenfalls geführt werden. Die Arbeiten schlagen Zeitkapriolen aus dem Unterbewussten. Der Körper und seine chaotische organischen Strukturen werden glorifiziert. Die Arbeit strebt eine Mischung der Welten knapp vor und knapp hinter den Augendeckeln an, sie soll einen Körperflash auslösen und den Betrachterinnen zu ihrem Mut und (wiedergewonnener) Unschuld gratulieren.
