Len MacGillivray is an Associate Professor of Chemistry an the University of Iowa. His research focuses processes of molecular self–assembly, particularly its application to organic synthesis. In 2002 MacGillivray was awarded a 2002 National Science Foundation CAREER Award and a Research Corporation Research Innovation Award. In 2004, he received the Young Investigator Award of the Inter–American Photochemical Society and the Etter Early Career Development Award of the American Crystallographic Association. MacGillivray was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2006 and has also just received a 2007 Cope Award of the American Chemical Society. MacGillivray has pusblished 110 manuscripts, has been on six editorial boards, and is currently the Editor–in–Chief of Molecular and Supramolecular Materials.
