About the Author:
Hans J. Hartfuß held a position at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics in Greifswald, Germany, since 1982, where he was working in the field of plasma diagnostics of hot fusion relevant plasmas. He was head of the diagnostics development divison of the Wendelstein 7X Stellarator experiment that was being built in Greifswald. As a professor he was teaching Plasma Diagnostics, in particular Microwave Diagnostics for many years at the University of Greifswald. He is the author or co-author of about 300 papers.
Thomas Geist was with the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics from 1992 on, designing in co-operation Professor Hartfuß instruments for plasma diagnostics using millimeter waves. In 1998 he accepted a position with the Millimeter-wave Engineering Department of Cassidian Electronics at Ulm, Germany. His work is mainly related with receiver frontends and low noise oscillators.
