The practice of placing undergraduate education students under the supervision and mentorship of K-12 teachers has long been valued as the culminating experience of teacher preparation programs. About the Author:

Michael Zemek received his Ed.D. in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at Augustana College Rock Island, Illinois, where he teaches music methods and conducting courses, conducts choral ensembles, and supervises music student teachers.
