Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo transversal en el Centro de Diagnóstico Integral “Cuyuní”, Estado Bolívar para caracterizar el parasitismo intestinal en un grupo de pacientes. Se analizaron como variables: edad, ocupación, tipo de parásitos encontrados, características del abastecimiento y tratamiento del agua de consumo, disposición de heces fecales, hábitos higiénicos y síntomas presentados. Se incluyeron 320 pacientes mayores de cinco años con exámenes de heces fecales positivos. La recogida de la información se realizó a través de un cuestionario, los datos restantes se obtuvieron de los resultados de las heces fecales de estos pacientes los cuales se plasmaron al final del instrumento. El grupo de edad más afectado fue entre 5 y 15 años con 90 pacientes (28.1%). Predominó el hábito de andar descalzos en el 24,7% y el dolor abdominal fue el principal síntoma referido por los estudiados con 126 pacientes.
