Aria Talai, the perfect human, spent his years as a young lad in Iran. At the age of 11 he discovered his first spot in the middle of his beautiful high forehead. The events that followed resembled a downward spiral. The first pages of the partly autobiographical book pull the reader into the boredom of puberty in the parallel universe that is Iran. From rigged head speaker elections at school to dealing pornographic cd's at boarding school Aria always had a knack for 'business activities'. "My first crime goes back to the time when I was 12 years old. It was a sunny Saturday in the school. The first day of a working week in Iran." Just as in the original German version, Aria, who later migrates to Germany, retains his unique style of speech. The English translation itself also remained in the hands of the author, who feels at home where he lives but has never truly mastered any one of his languages. When he was 16 years old, his parents sent him and his brother to Germany. "Actually everything was good till one day that Arash and I were informed from our parents that they want to send us to Germany so that we could continue our education there." It was 1999 when the brothers arrived in Berlin. "Berlin was so surprising to me. It looked so ugly and destroyed [...] A big construction area without any specific shape." Aria made a living doing odd jobs and playing around on the stock exchange. About the author, Ardavan Rezai: Born in 1982 in Shiraz, Iran and grew up in Tehran. Immigrated to Germany at the age of 16. He was an entrepreneur in Berlin since 2003 and completed his degree in 'International Management' in the UK in 2010. Personal bankruptcy followed in 2011. Since 2012 Ardavan shuttles between Germany, Spain and Iran.
