About the Author

The Artist
Robert Rauschenberg was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1925. One of the most important artists of the American postwar generation, he was awarded the Grand Prix for painting at the Vienna Biennale. His works have been exhibited worldwide and he continues to have a profound influence on contemporary art. "ROCI: Rauschenberg Overseas Cultural Exchange" was published by Prestel in 1991 (now out of print).

Dr. Marc Gundel is a freelance exhibition curator. He is the author of "Picasso: Art of the Poster", also published by Prestel.
