Synopsis
The year was 1965, the place was southern California. Public nudity was illegal and nude photography was, in the eyes of the government, pornography. "Jaybird Magazine", a celebration of the groovy new nudism on the rise among hippies, was born out of this climate.

About the Author
Dian Hanson served her country in the sexual revolution, where she developed an interest in erotic publishing. She was one of the founding editors of Puritan Magazine in 1976 and went on to edit Partner, Oui, Hooker, Outlaw Biker, and Juggs magazines, among others. In 1987 she took over Leg Show magazine and transformed it into the world s largest selling fetish publication. She considers herself an erotic anthropologist: the magazines and their readers her laboratory and test subjects.

Bob Mizely è l'editore della rivista Physique Pictorial la prima rivista americana esplicitamente gay. La vita e la carriera di Mizer si possono idealmente dividere in dua parti prima e dopo la morte della mamma avvenuta nel 1964. Infatti la vita e conseguentemente le fotografie di Mizley furono molto pudiche, reticenti e solo in bianco e nero senza nudi espliciti nei primi anni e nella giovinezza mentre in età matura egli liberò la sua espressività e diede pieno sviluppo alle sue fantasie. Negli anni '70 e '80 Mizer trasformò la sua casa di Los Angeles in una sorta di atelier perenne dove i modelli vivevano e lavoravano. La sua produzione fotografica influenzò importanti artisti quali addirittura David Hockney che ha anche scritto un contributo per questo libro.
