Bernd Obermann was born in 1954 in Oberhausen, Germany. After his apprenticeship with master photographer Rudi Groth he worked in advertising, fashion, and portraiture. He was also a journalism photographer, covering wars in Afghanistan, Somalia and Sarajevo. His work has appeared in Stern, Vogue, and Esquire.
