This book highlights the overall poverty scenario in Odisha since 1970s and assess the role of the state in ensuring basic social security.Further, an effort has been made to review the India’s 'rights based approach’ in tackling the severe problem of poverty and food scarcity in the poorest regions of the country with specific reference to Odisha. This micro level study explores the coping mechanisms developed by the tribal villagers to overcome food crisis and hunger.
