En Quintana Roo existen pocos reportes sobre Ia cacerolita de mar (Limulus polyphemus L.), de ahí Ia importancia del presente estudio que pretende contribuir al conocimiento de las poblaciones de L. polyphemus en Holbox, Quintana Roo. Los muestreos se realizaron en Septiembre de 1999, Enero y Marzo del 2000, eligiendo 6 localidades, a través de transectos paralelos a la costa. Se registraron un total de 695 individuos, de los cuales (30.50%) son vivos, (34.53%) muertos y el (34.96%) son exuvias, apreciándose una proporción hembras / machos 1:1.43. La mayor talla fue de 476 mm (viva) y Ia menor talla de 43 mm (exuvia), la desviación estándar del total de los individuos es de S = 24.46 y la media aritmética X = 254 mm. La mayor densidad (22.09 Ind/100m2) se observó en la temporada de secas. La relación peso - talla es: W = 0.0004 L 2.8151 con un crecimiento de tipo alométrico. La curva de supervivencia es de tipo II. Los parámetros de crecimiento son:K = 0.47 y L∞= 501 mm.
