Introduction The death of a person changes the fate of those left behind. Especially, the forceful death of a person demands to initiate changes of fate by means of personal engagement, indignation, perseverance. To this purpose this little booklet would like to contribute in three ways: For once the cause of death of the at his time most respected politician in the international agenda, surrounded by deadly intrigues, until now is not finally solved. And this although there have been and there indeed are new revelations coming forth surrounding the circumstances of the plane crash, especially since and during the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Conference under Desmond Tutu in South Africa; mutually corroborating documents and witness accounts, which seem to confirm the contested claim that Hammarskjöld fell victim to a planed assassination. This is to be shown by a focused juxtaposition of facts and related questions. Then again, we would like to keep the memory alive of a diplomat who managed by extraordinary skill and unconditional commitment to save the international community over and over again like no other from military escalation of its inherent fundamental differences at the time. Last not least the political and ethical vision of Dag Hammarskjöld is highlighted, which leads us to the paramount problems of the present reality in a world torn by financial turmoil, neo-liberal income redistribution and an environment protection failed by disagreements among nationalist states.
