Book Description SYNERGON Verlag GbR, Germany, 1997. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Photos by Frank Busch, Lithography by Schwabenrepro, Stuttgart (illustrator). In English. Beautiful, classy book in just about 'As New' condition. Very rare: I saw only one other copy for sale on the Internet ($175.00). Here's what it's about. Condition will follow. 'Every year in the month of May people from all over the world flock to Brescia in the province of Lombardy. Some might call them crazy since they all have only one thing in mind: to drive approximately 340 old automobiles from Brescia to Rome and back as quickly as possible regardless of the cost to man and material. It is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears, and even the nose is not neglected with the smell of burnt racing oil in the air. Regrettably, the participants and their crews have little time to taste the specialties and delicacies of Italy, the mother of all cuisines. So we have decided to fill this gap and to write this book, which combines the most spectacular race in the world, the 'Mille Miglia' with the beauty of the countryside and its delectable cuisine which can be experienced along the Mille's route. Should you have the desire to follow in our footsteps on the path described in this book, you will need 14 days instead of 10 hours, 47 minutes and 48 seconds, the record set by Stirling Moss in his Mercedes 300 SLR.' Happily, this book from 1997, is in exceptional condition. The black fabric of the covers is spotless. The red lettering on the front and spine is bright and unworn. In fact nothing shows any wear. The book is also very solidly bound, absolutely no issues in that regard. The interior of the book is beautiful. Perhaps something like a perfectly laid out table in a very luxurious high-end restaurant. The paper is top quality. So are the many, many photographs, the maps, the fonts, the small visual touches, and presumably the recipes which are printed on a special cellophane-like paper, one from each chosen Ristorante. The pages are as you would wish them to be: no one has written their name or anything else on any one, there isn't any soiling to be found, there aren't any markings or attachments, there aren't any creases or dogeared corners. There are three ribbons (red, white, and green). There is also a separate 30 by 23" color map of the route and the restaurants (if you take on this culinary adventure you may want to hang it up on your return home). The map is in perfect condition. The only imperfection, with regard to the book, is a very slight cocking forward of the spine. It is slight enough, by my estimation, not to have mentioned it, but it is visible so better to err on the side of caution. You can see the red dust jacket in the first three photographs. The flaps are NOT clipped, although there is no price or print on either one. As you can see, the covers are very clean. The wear is fairly minimal: a small scratch on the front, rubbing at the top tip of the middle edges, a little creasing at the spine ends, A 1/8th of an inch tear off the top edge of the rear cover adjacent to the spine, and a very slight bending at parts of the top edge of the front and rear. All in all quite minor. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. Seller Inventory # 001039
