This exhibition was organised by the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, the Fonds Regional d'Art Contemporain du Centre, (FRAC Centre), Orleans, and Architecture & Design at the Centre Pompidou, Paris. An examination of radical and visionary approaches to architectural design and urban planning of the city since World War II. The exhibition featured 220 projects by 90 architects and artists, on loan from Paris. Presentation in 4 sections: 1, 'The Pulsating City; 2, The Endless City; 3, The Deconstructed City; and 4, The Contextualised City'. Sections, corresponding to different decades and concerns, unfolded like a historical text as viewers moved from the urban utopias of the 1950s, to Deconstructionist works of the 1980s, to the influence of new technology in the 1990s, and lastly to reflections on the future direction of the avant-garde.
