Shunji Dodo (b.1947) is a Japanese photographer and teacher from Osaka. After moving to Nara, the ancient capitol of Japan, on the Kii peninsula on the island of Honshu, he became fascinated with the local culture and people. This volume is the result of years of working with an 8 x 10 field camera to record the people and landscape of the area. In 1999, he won the 24th Ina Nobuo award (the first winner was Masahisa Fukase) from the Nikon Salon. 148 pages; 121 full-page b&w photographic plates; 10.5 x 10.5 inches.
