They were selected from previously published collections and were ultimately taken from Evening, Rosary, White Flock, Plantain, Anno Domini, Reed, and The Seventh Book. One translation of the title is "The Way of All Earth." This edition appears to be annotated. Akhmatova (1889 - 1966) is considered one of the great Russian poets of the 20th century.
