Sexualized violence has accompanied human civilization in different scales in absolutely every culture. This volume traces the varied forms of this phenomenon in our modernity, especially its depiction in pop culture erotized violence as visual entertainment. The images of violence on which this book dwells are also related to porn, that side-culture of transgression that defines itself through and against censorship. That’s the other subject of this book, media and mainstream discourse have acquired characteristics from porn: what happens when porn prohibited genre par excellence becomes a mass obsession, when porn icons become easily accessible and imbue popular imagination in unpredictable and bizarre ways. Are we so obsessed with entertainment that we have turned death and torture into one more source of enjoyment?
