Bill Watterson was born in 1958 in Washington, D.C. He studied political science at Kenyon College and began his professional career as a political cartoonist for the Cincinnati Post. His comic strip Calvin and Hobbes has earned him several awards, including the Reuben from the National Cartoonists Society and the Humor Comic Strip.
