Synopsis

IntoductionLow vaginal delivery is a physiological phenomenon that is not without risk, namely perineal tears. These were the subject of our study.Materials and methodsThis is a descriptive prospective study of natural childbirth in the centre of the maternity hospital in Tunis.ResultsAccording to our study, 26% of the women had perineal tears during childbirth of varying degrees, of which 2% were 3rd degree. The majority were primiparous, i.e. 48% of the cases. 77% of parturients were overweight and 62% were sedentary. The midwife was in 96% of cases a resident in training or a student midwife.ConclusionPerineal tears remain a real burden for both the health care professional and the patient. Several simple and easy to apply preventive measures are available?
