Surface pre-treatment is the first step of painting which is carried out in automobile industry. It drives basic quality of paint like adhesion, surface finish, protection against corrosion, durability of paint etc. Pre-treatment process consists of 11 tank process in which phosphating is the main process where coating of phosphate layer offers adhesion to subsequent coat of painting. Conventionally, phosphating process is tri-cationic phosphate (Zn, Ni and Mn) which performs at 48-52˚C. Prior to phosphating process, activation of surface is being done to create active nuclei which offer base to the phosphating process, for that powder based titanium orthophosphate is used, where trigger point of the project trial lies. The current study proposed the process capability studies to get control limits i.e. UCL and LCL, to get desired output without affecting product quality, the reduction in process temperature also provides environment friendly solutions.
