Kurbanjan Samat is an Uygur from Hotan, Xinjiang. He is an independent photographer and a documentary cameraman. He has orchestrated a number of award-winning photo exhibitions and has participated in the shooting of a good many documentary films, such as Silk Road - Journey Restarted and A Bite of China. He is also a winner of the Annual Outstanding Young Photographer Award at the 7th PhotoChina Original International Photographic Exhibition and a visiting professor at College of Humanities of Xinjiang University.
