Synopsis
本书《八指头陀诗文集》以民国八年法源寺本《八指头陀诗文集》为底本，校以十卷本《八指头陀诗集》。《嚼梅吟》乃早年作品，多未收入诸本，即少量收入诸本者，改订颇多，甚至不啻于重写。今为保存原貌，以完其璧，故全本著录，作为《八指头陀诗外编》。其它诗文拾遗等一依丛书体例，传记塔铭、序跋题评、年谱等，亦作为附录资料，胪陈于后。《年谱》为释大醒所撰《清代诗僧八指头陀年谱》。大醒是敬安再传弟子，此年谱为《清代诗僧八指头陀评传》的末章，曾刊载于《海潮音》第十五卷第七号，以诗系年，简明扼要，是较早的可靠的敬安年谱。
