本书稿是新闻与传播学译丛——英文原版系列中的一本，是原文影印大师的经典著作。在力求反映现代西方思想学术的独创性与思维深邃性的同时，尤其注重思想的全面性及其内涵的启迪价。式塔心理学自1912年成立以来，一向偏重于知觉的研究，批评家常以式塔的原则未能应用于情意心理学为憾。在本书稿中，勒温及其弟子们的研究便填补了这个缺憾。勒温认为情意的研究比知觉研究更为重要。勒温提出了心理生活空间这个概念，考虑到各种因素之间的关系、场的层次和变化，以及同实际生活的联系，确有可取之处。
