About The Author -: Lala Lajpat RaiÊ( 1865 - 1928) was an Indian independence activist. He played a pivotal role in theÊIndian Independence movement. He was popularly known asÊPunjab Kesari. He was one of the three members of theÊLal Bal PalÊtriumvirate.ÊHe was also associated with activities ofÊPunjab National BankÊand Lakshmi Insurance Company in their early stages of death in 1894. He died a few weeks after sustaining severe injuries during aÊbaton chargeÊby police when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-BritishÊSimon Commission, a commission constituted by theÊUnited KingdomÊfor Indian constitutional reform. Lala Lajpat Rai was a large believer in the idea of Hinduism. He joined Indian National Congress and took active part in the freedom struggle of India. He was a great Indian freedom fighter and for this he was deported to Burma. Lala Lajpat Rai was elected President of the Congress party in the Calcutta Special Session of 1920. Lala Lajpat Rai worked with great Energy and enthusiasm to improve education and social conditions in India.
