Ruskin Bond, born in 1934 in a small Himalayan town, is an Indian author of British descent. He has become very popular among children and adults for his heart-warming stories about the natural and simple folk of Himalayan regions. His stories are permeated with love for nature. He has received the Sahitya Academy award as well as the Padma Shri for his contributions to children's literature.
