Urban sociology is the sociological study of social life and human interaction in metropolitan areas. It is a normative discipline of sociology. It is a normative discipline of sociology seeking to study the structures, processes, changes and problems of an urban area and by doing so providing inputs for planning and policy making. About the Author:

Henna Tabussum holds M.A degree in Sociology. She got Ph.d on her doctoral thesis Urban Society: Problems of Poverty and Slums . She is currently Head of the Dept of Sociology at A.N. College, Patna. She is also coordinator of psycho-social cell in the same college.

Society, social issues and problems and poverty in society are her favorite topics. She has successfully guided many research scholars. Author of several books on the subject, her articles regularly appear in dailies and periodicals. She has actively participated in many seminars and conferences.
