Synopsis

The Vichara Sangraham is the earliest recording of Maharshi's teachings. It has its origins in slips of paper upon which the Maharshi wrote answers to questions put to Him by Gambhiram Seshayya (Gambhiram Seshiar) during 1900 to 1902, when Sri Ramana was dwelling in Virupaksha Cave on holy Arunachala. The present work in prose consists of forty questions and answers covering the entire range of spiritual disciplines required for the gaining of release (moksha).

Review

While clarifying the doubts of Sehier, Ramana would always bring him back to the importance of enquiry about the subject, about the I, about non-objective, holistic, spiritual practice. In no other work do we find such a clear and lucid exposition of the Nature of the Mind. -- Sri A. R. Natarajan --From the foreword to the book Essence of Enquiry, which is a commentary on this work.
