An amazing journey on foot that lasted nine years, for which he ended up being revered as a great shaman by the Sioux, the Apache, the Tarahumara, and other peoples, until he found his own and met Hernán Cortés in Mexico City.
 
This impeccably documented narrative shows the incredible life saga of a rare conquistador, who interacted for years with a multitude of North American ethnic groups. He understood and defended them, pushing for a different way to establish Spanish rule over the New World.

ANTONIO PÉREZ HENARES (Bujalaro, 1953) es autor, entre otras obras, de las novelas La tierra de Álvar Fáñez, El Rey Pequeño, La canción del bisonte y Cabeza de Vaca, así como de la Tetralogía «Prehistórica», compuesta por Nublares, El Hijo de la Garza, El último cazador y La mirada del lobo.
Ha ejercido el periodismo desde los dieciocho años, cuando comenzó en el diario Pueblo. Fue director de Tribuna y director de publicaciones de Promecal. Colabora habitualmente como columnista en numerosos medios de prensa escrita. Al inicio de la pandemia de COVID, por dignidad, decidió abandonar las tertulias televisivas.
