Synopsis
El talento de Benito Pérez Galdós (1843-1920) para la creación de personajes, a la vez reflejo social de la pequeña burguesía madrileña y agudo análisis psicológico de la condición humana, desplegó en Tristana todas sus potencialidades. La protagonista de la novela trata de rebelarse contra las circunstancias familiares y sociales que le impiden alcanzar la independencia y la felicidad; su fracaso es la triste victoria de una sociedad sórdida y represiva que refuerza la estabilidad a costa del sometimiento y de la destrucción de quienes se alzan contra sus dictados.

Benito María de los Dolores Pérez Galdós (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 10 de mayo de 1843 - Madrid, 4 de enero de 1920), conocido como Benito Pérez Galdós, fue un novelista, dramaturgo y cronista español. Se trata del mayor representante de la novela realista del siglo XIX en España, y uno de los más importantes escritores en lengua española.
