About the Author

William Keith Chambers Guthrie (1906-1981), especialista en filosofía griega, estuvo vinculado prácticamente toda su vida a la Universidad de Cambridge, donde se tituló en estudios clásicos. Traductor y estudioso de textos de Platón y Aristóteles, también es recordado por su habilidad como orador en latín y por pronunciar discursos ante importantes hombres de Estado. Entre sus obras destacan The Greeks and their Gods (1950), The Greek Philosophers: from Thales to Aristotle (1950), Orfeo y la religión griega (1935; 1952) y especialmente la vasta Historia de la filosofía griega (1962-1981).
