About the Author

Masuji Ibuse was a Japanese author born and raised in Hiroshima. During World War II, he worked on war propaganda and witnessed the destruction of his hometown. After the war, and with the publication of Black Rain, he became one of the most celebrated Japanese authors of modern times.
