The volume, published in collaboration with the Marino Marini Foundation, is the first work to offer a complete catalogue of his work, authentifying and up-dating of the documentation relating to the entire artistic production of one of the greatest 20th-century sculptors and, probably, the most famous modern Italian sculptor in the world.
An uninterrupted thread of classicism can be seen running throughout his production, from 1926 -- the year of his first achievements -- to the end of the Sixties: the unity between matter, form and space. The book, introduced by an extensive essay by Giovanni Garandente and illustrated by a wealth of images, traces Marini's thought-process and artistic evolution through the catalogue of over four hundred works, including the monumental sculptures, executed over the course of his long career: from the series of 20th-century Personalities (portraits of men and women in the sculptor's life), to the Pomonas (feminine nudes conventionally named after the Latin and Roman goddess of fertility), the Acrobats and Jugglers (represented resting before their performance), and the famous equestrian groups of Horses and Riders, one of the Tuscan artist's favorite subjects, with which he was passimately concerned.
