About the Author

Ilaria Capua DVM, Phd, is Full Professor and Director of the One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida. She is globally known for her research on infl uenza and other emerging pathogens. She has been instrumental in promoting open access to genetic information on emerging viruses which is now considered a pillar of public health. She is an advocate for female leadership in the scientifi c arena and is currently involved in research coordination and manage ment of the strategic response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
