Synopsis
This book is includes simple prayers that has been collected from a number of sources including songs. It grew out of a question that the Queen of Sweden once asked, “What exists regarding evening prayers in Sweden?” The “Hövförsamlingen” was responsible for this book, which is a non-territorial church under the Church of Sweden which includes the Royal Family. The book is mainly in Swedish with some English.The book was first published in 1979, which happened to be when the United Nations proclaimed the year to be the “International Year of the Child”. It was later re-published in 1999, taking into account updated writings from the Swedish Church, a new hymnal (1986), new translation of the Bible’s New Testament (1981) as well as later the Bible’s Old Testament (2000)When published in 1979, a note included by King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, “...We hope that this prayer book...will be help for our family—and many others.” Then Crown Princess Victoria included a note in 1999 when the book updated with a new addition, “Evening prayers for me is a natural thing. My parents did it regularly, that I myself experienced. It is with great joy that this prayer book, which had my name 20 years ago, is published anew and can be of help to parents and children to understand the benefit of being able to pray”.
